Circular letter regarding pallets - Denmark
For the Danish forwarding line of business the automatic pallet exchange has for a long time created increasing problems. The system is out of date and involves large costs and risks being in reality irrelevant to the transport intermediary.Instead the costs and risks should be a matter beween buyer and seller. As a consequence of the above the leading Danish forwarding companies have decided to discontinue the pallet exchange as of 01.01.2007. This is in line with the practice in the other Nordic countries where automatic pallet exchange has not been pactices for many years. The decision should also be seen in the light of the fact that major Danish industrial companies, like e.g. Danfoss, no longer wish to pactice pallet exchange, but instead invoice the receivers for the value of the pallets or use non-returnable pallets.
